From January 2011, Villa in Asia has become partner of the Giri Asih Foundation.(www.giri-asih.nl ) Giri Asih Foundation is looking after the interest of the Children’s Home Pohsanten situated in the West of Bali. The aim of our cooperation is collecting money for this Home and to make you aware of the fact that unfortunately Bali still has got a lot of poverty apart from tourism and increasing prosperity. The Foundation-Board consists of Dutch members who wish the Balinese people well. The well-known author Yvonne Keuls forms part of the Board.

How you could support?
Of course you could make a donation yourself to Giri Asih at Bank accountnr : 572578822 in the name of Giri Asih Nederland or you could visit the Children’s Home during your stay in Bali. Besides money they need a lot more so you could also help them in another way with food, clothing, remaining goods and knowledge, this will be more than welcome.
Below we give you some more info about the Foundation and more info you will find
In 2000 - 2005 – The Giri Asih Foundation renovated in full the orphanage of the same name in Melaya. Moreover we have supported the orphanage in all possible ways.
We were not the proprietor of the building, proprietor was and still is the Indonesian Foundation Sumber Kasih. We were not able to interfere with daily affairs but we noticed that for example maintenance was neglected. We have rounded the project within five years and decided to continue on our own management, “ Undertaking to do similar projects“, as mentioned in our statutes.
In 2005 - 2010 – In 2005 we purchased the land in Pohsanten and within five years we gathered enough money to raise a new Children’s Home. In 2010, five years later again, this Home is in full operation. The Giri Asih Foundation is the proprietor and therefore responsible for the results, maintenance and so on. Two members of the board, Batty Rai and Hylke Sies, live in Indonesia now to look after our Children’s Home Pohsanten.
At the moment there are ten children and bit by bit we could increase the number to 36.
If finance allows us to do so. We would like to create a buffer which will be sufficient for each child to have its meal, living and attending school for about five years.
The expenses for one child a year is approximately € 1000,- and we would like to have a reserve of € 2000,- To make a financial contribution towards our Foundation or preferably become a permanent donor of the foundation Giri Asih Nederland will be deeply appreciated.
